Salam all.... Today is the last day before I'm off to my hometown for the upcoming General Election (GE). Juma is away in Australia for few weeks and I'll be at my mom's for at least a week.

Today I did rosey kisses. It's a meringue and what you need are just egg white and sugar. Then you can drop the flavour that you wish.

Ready to be pop in the oven
This is specially for sweet tooth persons and suitable for party. I did this for a customer and I charge rm25/ 200gm. I also can do it in lemon, lime and orange flavour.

Can you see the beautiful peak?
Two days earlier, I've prepared chocolate chips cookies. You can get the recipe here. I did with walnut, hazelnut and one batch with mint. Juma loves it so much! You can get your chocolate cookies customize with your choice of nuts and flavour as well!  You can order from me at the price of rm35 of a container. It is suitable at any time, any where and any occasion.

I've packing my stuff for my stay at my mom's. After travelling alone with the kids for few times, I'm kind of good at packing the stuff. Which means I don't carry extra luggage for unnecessary stuff.

For tea break: Cucur kodok
Till then, see you again.

P/s : please pray for a safe and smooth journey for me.

More cupcakes and new venture!

Asslamualaikum all..

It is cupcake fever in me, currently. As I mentioned in earlier post about Laura Vitale's website, myself can't stop from making cupcakes. But today, I tried other dessert and from Martha Stewart recipe. However, it didn't go well, so I won't recommend you to try it.

Lemon cupcake with cream cheese frosting
About the cupcakes, I manage to make myself a little bit busier than usual by selling it at a restaurant near to my house. I put my lemon and chocolate cupcakes for the start. I called up the restaurant and the cashier informed me that few cuppies are sold. Yay!

Red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting
I'll visit another restaurant near to my house tomorrow, for cuppies testing session. I've prepared chocolate and red velvet cupcakes already. I'll bake the lemon ones tomorrow. Hopefully everything will go well. Pray hard for me ya!

Till then, stay tune!

Recipe: Walnut Chocolate Brownies

Halo again! How's your day today? Productive enough to put into a tight sleep?

I would like to share with you a RECIPE! Do you brownies? I do! I do much. I love anything with chocolate.

On early February, my mother and stepfather organized a thanksgiving feast (kenduri kesyukuran). There is many reasons for the celebration... my parents are able to go for Umrah again, my brothers' wedding, my sister-in-law's pregnancy and my step siblings' wedding. I'll story about the feast in another article, so, stay tune!

Out of blue, I decided to bake brownies as the door gift. In my love, I've baked brownies and it never turned out to be normal. It will be either too soft or too hard. Once, the sugar settled at the bottom of the brownies. But I challenge myself to get the right recipe ASAP and make the door gift.

As now, my faith in Anna Olson is quite high. Therefore I googled the recipe of brownies from Anna Olson and tried. It didn't turn out well! It wasn't soft and it seems it didn't 'get-up'. After looking closely at the ingredient, I realized that I didn't put in baking powder! Silly me!

On the next day, I baked again and at this time, I got it right. So let's try out and let me know whether you like it or not, ok?

Ingredient

1 cup unsalted butter
1/2 cup cocoa powder (you can add more as you wish)
1 3/4 cups sugar
4 eggs ( I separate the white egg and yolk)
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/4 cups all purpose flour (I use 1 cup wheat flour and 1/4 cup self raising flour)
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
toasted walnuts (or other nuts)

Method

1. Preheat oven to 350 F (180 C) and grease an 8 x 11 inch baking pan.
2. Pour in sugar in a large bowl.
3. Melt butter (over stove or in microwave) and pour into the bowl of sugar. Stir it well.
4. Add in cocoa powder.
5. Lightly beat the white egg and yolk. Add in the white yolk and mix it well. Add in the yolk and mix it well.
6. Add in vanilla extract.
7. In separate bowl, add in flour, salt and baking powder. Mix it well.
8. Add the flour mixture into the mixture.
9. Stir in walnut.
10. Pour into the pan and let it sit for 15 minutes. Bake for 40-50 minutes, until firm when touched.

I didn't snap the picture of the brownies. Will post it once I bake for Juma, perhaps in 4 days time.

Good luck with the recipe!

I Miss You!

Everybody is happy! That's the conclusion of today.

I brought my 2 kids to their grandparents' house. It had been more than a week they didn't see their grandparents. The last time they were met was on the last day I worked. I wanted to go to my in law's house last week, but they were busy.

Aaron was missing his grandfather, Atuk, dearly. I feel sad whenever he sees our neighbor, who is old enough to be called Atuk (grandpa), he will greet him as if he sees his Atuk. Aaron is close with Juma's father, whom he calls Atuk. He will follow his Atuk wherever he goes. He will seek for Atuk if he wants to sleep. And since I quit working, he hasn't seen his Atuk till today.

Wan, what my kids call Juma's mother) was so delighted seeing her grandchildren. She was a bit chubby compared to the last time I met her. It must be a better lifestyle she is living my now. She doesn't have to get up very early to clean up the house before the kids arrive. She also no longer need to dwell with my kids' naughty behaviour. I'm so happy looking at her, as she look less stress than before.

As we arrived, Aaron was poo poo. He felt so uneasy in the car and he couldn't take his afternoon nap. I told him that I'll clean him up once we arrived to their grandparents' house. Nonetheless, Aaron ran straight into the house checking every room, making sure nothing is changed.

Maleec on the other hand, looked uncomfortable. He suddenly became so shy and didn't greet his grandparents. He just ate his cookies and asking for instant noodles. Then he whispered to me, 'Mummy, abang house. Tv Up.' It means that he wants to go home to watch his tv, located in my room, upstairs. I looked at him and asked him, 'don't you want to stay here awhile and talk to Wan and Atuk?' He replied, 'No! Abang tv up!' Oh my! I just ignored him and he looked as if he was disconnect with his grandparents. Hmm.. another problem to be solved!

Later, Aaron got cozier, naughtier. He was 'running' the kitchen, paying with the cooking utensils, pulling the books out from the shelves and he dropped 2 eggs on the floor! That is the ultimate that I could tolerate on today. Finally, we were in the car, driving back home.

The evening was fine, as other evening. But I learned something today. It is human's nature character to appreciate the person more when they are gone. Seriously, it is a dangerous behavior as sometimes there is no second chance. Look at my in-laws for example. When Aaron and Maleec were staying with them, I don't think they feel how much happy the kids made them. To them, having teh kids around is a daily routine, But since the separation from them, the children been much appreciated by their grandparents.

So do I. Sometimes when Juma is in Malaysia, I feel that I'm going through the daily routine and the days seem the same,; nothing special. But when he is out station and return, I feel like falling in love all over again. I miss him dearly when he isn't around.

My new resolution: appreciate each moment you have. Appreciate everybody around.

Well, I leave you with a lovely pancake recipe from Nigella Lawson. I want to make pancake tomorrow as breakfast. Unfortunately I don't have milk. *sigh*

Nites people!

Recipe: Simple Pancake

For the pancake mix

  • 600 gram(s) plain flour
  • 3 tablespoon(s) baking powder
  • 2 teaspoon(s) bicarbonate of soda
  • 1 teaspoon(s) salt
  • 40 gram(s) caster sugar (or vanilla sugar)

For the batter - to each 150g pancake mix, add and whisk together

  • 1 medium egg(s)
  • 250 ml semi skimmed milk (or full fat)
  • 1 tablespoon(s) butter (melted)

Method

  1. For the Pancake mix: Mix all the ingredients together and store in a jar.
  2. When ready to make the pancakes, proceed as follows: Heat a flat griddle or pan with no oil.
  3. Spoon drops of 1½-2 tablespoons of batter onto the hot griddle or into the pan and, when bubbles appear on the surface of the little pancakes, flip them over to make them golden brown on both sides. A minute or so a side should do it.
  4. Should make about 15 pancakes, each about 8cm in diameter.

What's the menu today?

One of the big challenge I face as a mother is battling with your kid's favorite menu. I was born as a picky eater. And the gene was passed to Maleec, my first son. Eventually, I can see me in Maleec a lot; the way he speaks, acts, express his emotions, the way he sleeps and his eating habits.

Maleec loves noodle. Mee, instnt mee, mee hoon, spaghetti, anything that's long and slim, he loves it. But he just eats it as it is. If there is soup, he will ignore the soup.

He loves mee goreng (fried mee) so much. Usually people fry it with veggie, egg and meat. But he will splash the mee (it is so annoying!), making sure that nothing tag along the mee, before he eats it. He takes lots of time to finish his food as he eats his noodle by pieces.

He hates rice! He just hates rice! I love rice. I can't live without it even for a day. But rice is Maleec's last resort of food. However, I'm so happy today because he eats lots of rice; 5 bowls in total!

As planned, I took the kids to Tesco Mutiara Damansara for groceries shopping. I bought many cooking stuffs as it had been awhile we didn't do groceries shopping. And also I plan to cook every weekdays (Insya Allah), therefore I need to pile up my kitchen with good ingredients!

Since I was late home (I missed a junction and had to make a long U-turn and battled with massive traffic jam), I just prepared simple dishes; ikan masak pindang dengan timun (so I have meat and veggie) and just fried the mini sausage. Suprisingly, both of my sons love the dishes! I was so shocked and of course, goddamn happy. Looking at how much enjoyable the have their meal made me feel worthy of living my career and becoming a full time mother.

Now Aaron is sleeping, missing his daddy like crazy and tired of helping me at our lawn. Maleec is still wide awake, watching his tv.

I'm call it off for today. We'll see what happen tomorrow, ya?

Double Celebration!

Obviously today is our day. It is our 4th anniversary, also I passed my driving license. I'm so looking forward for today since last week. Hopefully it will be a memorable ones. Sayang and I always finding reason to escape and be together, only the two of us. And today definitely is a day that we should spend time together, alone.

How fast time flies? Fast enough to make us realize it had been 4 years since we became husband and wife. Today, last four years, we had our Akad Nikah at a mosque near my mom's house and later a reception at my mom's. It was a lovely, intimate reception; which gathered all my aunts and uncles from my mom's side. Also with the presence of my late grandfather and my grandmother. In short, it was a great wedding.

And now, here we are, with 2 kids, promising job, nice house and great life, we are heading our family in good shape. Of course there was many bumps along the way, but we manage to move forward smoothly. the addition in our family members this year, bring more joy in our life. thanks Allah for all these.

Another reason for us to celebrate this year is that I passed my driving license. yup! I've been driving around before this with invalid driving license. Just ashamed to tell the story, so let me keep it to myself, ok? Hahaha...

So, off we went to TGIF Wangsa Walk for a dinner. It wasn't a romantic one, also nothing special with the menu. But we are happy that we can spend time together, on our special day. Here's some pictures of us:

However, there is one more thing happened today: Aaron downed with diarrhoea. Pity my little prince. Rashes developed at his private area and it gave him uneasy feeling. Thus, he can't stop crying. MakLong just afraid that anything happen to my kid, called me up when I was in the middle of the meeting, there is goes my half day leave. Haish. anyway, I'm grateful with Allah's gift to us. Alhamdullillah!

IFRC Day 1

I'm so sleepy now. So, I'm going to write in point form in order to make sure I'm not missing any important point:

1. I slept late yesterday. I can't remember why.

2. I can't pull myself up this morning. Ending up I woke up at 8.07am.

3. Today is my first day in International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent.

4. I was 5 minutes late to the office. My calculation was wronged. I thought Jalan Jelatek would be nice to me today, only to discover it was vice versa.

5. However, my excitement can't be hide. I was so happy making new friends, sitting at new place and receiving new laptop. Halo Lenovo! Also, I'm getting a new phone! Yippee!

6. I went to lunch with my colleagues, who happens to be are foreigners. It either they dunno that they are eating at a dirty and lousy place, or they have no choice, or I'm damn choosy. But I just hate the warung they brought me earlier today for lunch. Should bring them for the real Malaysian food.

7. I'm lost in translation. Seriously! the langua is totally different now. All the terms sounds too professional or to be exact, to nice to be true.

8. Sayang got his new effect. He had been browsing it last weekend at Bentley Mutiara Damansara and found it quite pricey compare to US market (duhhh!). Then he found a second hand ones. I dunno it will be as fast as getting it today. Anyway, glad that he is happy making noise in the house.

9. However, his gout really bites him hard. Chill k Sayang.

10. Take note people! Today is my beloved Mother's birthday! Alhamdullillah, she celebrates her 54th birthday in Tanah Suci Mekah. happy birthday Mama!

11. But Allah loves our maksu Boo more. She died today, as told by Farhan. I'm sorry, just quite hard to explain how important and meaningful she is in my family. 'Along sayang Boo sangat. Moga Allah jaga Boo baik-baik. Amin.'

Ok loves, enjoy this video clip as I'm so lazy to paste any pics. Cheers!

Surpise Visit

Another lazy Sunday. At least I woke earlier than Sayang. Hahaha... After a wild (?? after married, spending time /attending event and be back at 1 am is called wild night) night last night, we hardly open our eyes.

Fortunately, my brain woke earlier than the rest of my organs. Starting from next week, I can't expect myself to go to the office at 10 am or have a long breakfast or be back at 3pm. I have to go to normal office at normal hours. Thus, I can't run my groceries at anytime on any day, anymore!

Rushed to the market, I grabbed whatever I managed. And also bought roti canai for breakfast. I was quite surprise learning that the roti canai costs me only 90 cents. Though it is merely 10 cents cheaper than other roti canai, but it means a lot. Hehehe...

Sayang was frying maggi when I reached home. And Duri and I juggled preparing lunch for the family as I want to chill in the afternoon. Sayang's gout is still no sign of healing, plus now he is attacked by flu. So off to bed, Juma darling!

At 4.30 pm, the twins showed up with Ziela and Mamu. Great to see you guys! Ayin bought KFC, I did cucur ikan bilis also fried mee. Maleec and Aaron were happy seeing their uncles. I was happy too seeing my lil brothers, though it was just for few hours.

Hmm.. life has to goes on. How I wish we never have to grow up. Our parents won't grow old. But i still wanna marry Sayang.

Ok, I think I'm too sleepy now.. dok merepek tak abis.

Mother's Day and Day 1 Daddy In Jakarta

First and foremost, HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY, MAMA! You are my best friend forever that nobody can ever replace you. Thanks for being such a great mom to me, mother. I love you endlessly!

Ok, let me update what happen today. Everything seems to happen fast till hubby aboard KLIA Express. We woke at 9 am and had breakfast at NZ Wangsa Walk. Back home, he continued packing. Later, we headed to KL Sentral via LRT train. Maleec, of course, the most excited person. His became over-reacted when another choo choo passed us by. Hahaha.. His expression is priceless!

And we waved daddy goodbye at KL Sentral before enjoying our lunch at KLCC KFC. Then I got myself a body lotion from my favorite Mark & Spencer. Maleec was asleep when we reached home. Thus I quickly ran to Wangsa Walk to change my BB. Back home, we waited for Maleec to wake up and joined Kak Zakiah's son birthday party. The food, as usual, was marvellous. And Kak Zakiah made a cake for his beloved youngest son in a shape of ball, to honour his interest in football.

Then, time flies slowly. I miss my hubby badly. I miss you, Yang. Rindu sangat. And at 10.05 pm, my wait ended when I received THE call. Huhu.. Rindu sangat. And now I'm waiting for him to come online.

Goodnite, pretties!

Frappucino and Bumper

Rain made me late to the office, again. I blame the rain. I reached my office at 9.00 am, half an hour late. Luckily Shaun was in a good mood. And I wasn't the latest. Yay!

Had my meeting at Bandar Sri Damansara Club House with a tennis coach. Hopefully a good deal will come out soon!

During lunch time, I parked my car in front of the office gate. And since my car is the nearest to the office, all of us (Putri, Alan, Syira, Wirda and I) went to lunch with my car. But Putri was the one who drove it, since I was so exhausted. Hehe. Please bear with this pregnant lady ya! At one of the traffic light, while all of us happily chatting in the car, a big bang hit my car at the back. All of our head turned back and saw Wilson behind the wheel. Wilson, my dear boss, just hit my bumper!! Huargghhh!!! I was so shocked to be angry or whatever the feeling that I supposed to feel. Plus I wasn't mad because I know the person who hit the car personally. And the most important thing is I know that the person can pay for it. Hahahaha!

After checking the car at a workshop in Kepong, I headed back to Wangsa Maju. And to chill up, hubby and I lepak at Starbuck, enjoying our Frappucino, at half price.
